Hey PJMatt-
Thanks for the info. Believe it or not, I managed to find the info on Wikipedia regarding that tune-I guess Eddie found out while they were recording Binaural, and he wrote and recorded it the day he found out about Layne. Great song-it's amazing how strong their non-album material is. Another example-how did "Sad" not make it on an album? Most band's would kill to have ONE song that strong, and PJ left this off of an album? Awesome.
The last message I left you is gone...? The year Layne died was 2002. Riot Act came out that year. So it was when they were recording Riot Act, not Binaural which was released in 2000. The song title includes the day and year (2002) that Eddie heard about Mr. Staley's death. That part is right. Hate to be corrective, but as a huge fan, I gotta. Sorry, bro. Rock on! Another comment, I agree with you that Sad should have been on Ten (recorded during the Ten sessions), as well as Wash (song still gives me chills, finally saw it live in 2006!). Word.
You're not alone Christine; just heard it too on radio... and I had to re-visit our PJ website for the origine of this song, "Brother"... really good!! Cheers!
I just heard the song "brother" on the radio, immediately recognized Eddie's voice, but not the song- now I got the info. Gotta have it! WOW! Amazing vocal(as always) and extremely powerful sound from the guys(as always)! thanks again PJ....and thank you fellow PJers for the commentary-this album is next in my collection!
It's about people trying to sing like Lane and drugs...
Additionally, the song was named for the day Eddie found out about Lane's death, I think the actual date is unclear...
Yo SN277348, it's called 4/20/02, the day Lane Staley died, Staley tribute track, etc...
Can anyone tell me the name of the hidden track that plays after Bee Girl? Didn't see anything in the liner notes about it. Anyone know the name/back story?
Thanks,
Sean
Yes, Lost Dogs is incredible! I LOVE In The Moonlight, which was written by the amazing Matt Cameron... I haven't known them to ever play that live... wish they would!
This is a great collection of b-sides that is better than many regular albums from other bands.
ive seen and heard eddie do read a poem on you tube caleed "I'm Still Here" and cant find it anywhere any advice.
