I'd love to get this for Wii just for the hell of it but what's up with downloading it from Rockband?! Who knows. Can't we just buy things anymore? I wish it was just for sale @ Target or a Gamer store somewhere normal! Or is it? Am I wrong? Any fans have some info for a long time PJ fan??? Spectrum Coming up soon!!!! YAY!!
Hey My B-day is 2morrow too!!!! So seeing PJ twice in Oct is a great gift!!! But hey Ed if ur reading this call me! LoL, don't we all wish Ed would just call to BS!
@Stacey :
You can get the tracks for Rockband at Target if you do not want to download them by buying a bundled set for $30 (Backspacer CD + plus digital code for tracks) . However, you can only download the tracks for the XBOX or PS3 version of Rockband.
Happy birthday :)
Awwww man I knew it! The commercial said Wii but I thought Wii was Guitar Hero & not rock band! O well, woulda been fun... Thank U for the B-day wish!!! 8')
I've been a Pearl Jam fan my entire (musically aware) life. The first concert I ever went to was PJ and the Ramones in New Orleans in 1995... I was 16 years old. In all these years, no matter what direction the discussion of music took, there was one thing I could be proud of... one thing no one could refute: my favorite band, Pearl Jam, had never sold out. They had always stayed true to the music and ignored the hype. As I've been gearing up for this new album, I've begun to doubt whether or not that was still true. I'm a little bit taken aback by the Target exclusives, the video game downloads, etc. I'm still a PJ fan through-and-through, but I wonder... am I alone in my doubts? Am I the only one who is a little confused by this new direction? Am I the only one who's not as impressed by this album (the hyped one) as I have been by the last several records? Please, tell me. Is it me, or is it the band?
blah...blah....target....blah....sell out/or not.....one thing is for sure, this new album fucking rocks on the turntable, and rocks live!
I got this for the Wii a couple of days after it came out, but I couldn't find a way to download the entire album. Had to do it song by song, so I only picked the songs that would be fun to bang on the drums (Fixer, Supersonic, Johnny Guitar, Force of Nature, Unthought Known, Amongst the Waves) I may pick a couple more, but it would have been easier to be able to download the entire album at once (and for less than $2/song!!!). When are all the best live versions of the songs coming out on Rock Band?
Hey DH, first off I think this album is F'n GREAT!!! Its GOLD! I can't wait to hear some of it live @ the Spectrum (Twice)!!! Also my personal thought about the target exposure is... I'm just sick of the F'n commercial!!!! I live in Pgh PA & here on some channels they play it every other freakin commercial!!!! That's my only gripe. Album Rocks & they did what they had to do as far as hooking up with target... Still love Ya PJ & my main man Edwardo!!!! See ynz in Philly twice! It can't come fast enough!!!!!
I had the same issue too in regards to getting the tracks for Rock Band for Wii. I actually bought the PJ Rock Band album at Target without reading assuming it would just work, but as I got home I realized it only works for XBox and PS3, bummer. At least I can download it now for the Wii (after I return PJ Rock Band to Target!).
As for the post about selling out...I actually think the band are still far from selling out and in fact I think the Target deal is still inline with the bands proverbial march of being independent. Sure Target's a big store/chain, but do you know whose still bigger? The vile, evil...Wal-Mart. I'd like to think P.J. gave a nice middle finger to stores like that who whould have otherwise sold the album in their stores had PJ went with a "normal" album distribution scheme. Plus, kudos to Target for allowing their "exclusive" rights to selling PJ extend to the bands own website and to the little independent record stores to sell it too (which is where I bought the album anyways). You know not many big box companies would have opened up and done this. I was also most impressed Target carried the Vinyl copy of the album (and to my suprise they carried the 7" white vinyl "The Fixer" single too) which being a vinyl fanatic like the band that was very cool indeed.
As to the Rock Band stuff, hey it's all good geek fun to me and glad the band has lightened up on stuff like that. I actually didn't have it until the Beatles Rock Band came out and have had a blast playing that and am totally stoked I can play PJ songs now on it too. And besides, whether you like the Beatles are not you can't take away who the Beatles are: rock legends. Why not PJ too?
I'm loving that Backspacer is available. Such good songs. Ten (Reissue) , State of love and trust live, Brother is also available for download. You need to own Rockband or Rockband 2 to beable to purchase and download the songs. I have the Beatles Rockband but an unable to purchase songs through it. I guess the Beatles Rockband people don't want to see John or Paul singing PJ or Nirvana.
(Nintendo Wii)
there will be beatles albnums available for download--they just aren't available yet. the game just came out less than a month ago. there are already 2 beatles records set for release on beatles rock band and many more in the future. it's a giant cash cow.
Thanks for the replies to my comment. It's nice to hear what other fans have to say on the matter.
how the hell do you download this from the Wii?
I would also like to know how to download it on to the Wii.
Same here...
Can't seem to find it for Wii.... i have GH world tour is thast the reason i can't download it????
i saw on EB's post that you need rockband to download PJ song for Wii is that true???
Sorry about all my question but i just bought GH last week for my daugther B-day
To Download it for the Wii you can only do it if you own Rockband 2 game for the Wii (not Guitar Hero). Start Rockband then select online store. Then you can purchase individual tracks. But you first need to purchase Wii points through the Wii shop Channel. Each song is 200 points = $2 US.
Super "Sonic Reducer" aint no loser..... I hear ya and feel part of PJ's mystique is being low key. I myself really became a PJ fan after I saw them live. I mean I liked them before, grew up with ten, but when I saw them live I really got it. Ever since I've been buying everything I could get my hands on and gotta say the stuff they put out that most people haven't heard is their best. Better than the crap on the radio, so now PJ is back in the public eye, kinda weird, I agree...if that's where your coming from at least. But I don't think that takes away from who, and what they are. It's a true testament to the music and how they can connect, no matter from what venue or channel. I will be a through and through forever. I can't not be.
Thank's EB I'll go and buy Rockband today...;)
Correction: To purchase downloadable tracks for the Wii it can only be Rockband 2. Not Rockband 1
Cheers EB. Gonna have to get Rockband 2 today.
Hi Super Sonic Reducer!
No, you are not the only one!
1) On my opinion, Grunge is NOT dead. Come on guys!! Let us hear the deep sound of the waves through Jeff's bass, feel the strong wind thanks Ed's voice and see the electricity in the air again with Mike and Stone's solos... Let us fly again, once....
2) The Pearl Jam website has become an "online" shop more than a site for fans, this "hype" layout and the fact that when you put the CD in your computer a window opens up with links that send you... TO THE WEBSITE again is PURE MERCHANDISING...
All the downloadings through Wii, PSP, What the F.... XBox or other damned machines? I do not want and need that... I do not recognize Pearl Jam in that anymore...
I cannot find this feeling of intimacy I could find on the previous websites.
And it seems that the band is miles away far from understanding all this. Is it because the "magic touch" is gone? I do not know... I listen to PJ every single day of my life since the day Ten came out... I am not asking them to be THE stars and THE first ones on charts... But THE stars and THE first ones in my heart and in my hears again, yes...
Think of going back to your origins a little bit guys, just a little bit... Find back that sound I mentioned above, please.
Find it, or quit.
I love you!
Max
I think those apparently "opposed" to PJ being a little more commercial need to just take a little step back and examine this for what it is. None of us knows--at least no one I know--any of PJ personally, so we can't possibly understand like they do where they're going with the commercial direction of the band.
Quick aside: anyone who does play or has played in a rock band wants to sell records. I don't care who you are or what you say...you play music and believe that by doing so you contribute to a larger cultural collective--therefore you want people to hear your music.
I would think that PJ members are taking their opportunity to actually do more with their fame and money than they ever thought they could. Isn't that a hell of a lot better than becoming recluses and being socially or politically absent or apathetic?
Some of you on here are making posts like PJ wrote music--or worse, SHOULD HAVE BEEN writing music--just for you. And that's more a reflection of your self-centeredness than it is Pearl Jam's impact on American music and rock music's history. The irony is, they didn't write songs for me specifically or you specifically, but for themselves first, and a mass of people. So maybe you guys who are against their new direction need to ask why you're against it so much. Again, anyone who plays in a band or has played in a band write and play songs because it's an extension of themselves personally. So you make the decision, do I want people to hear my music, or not? If you do, then by some of your standards, you've "sold out" the second you try to let people hear your creations. Don't do that to this band. We all know that PJ represents. Don't do it.
I had a copy of Backspacer a week before it came out and I still bought the CD and the vinyl, because I support this band and have since I first heard Temple of the Dog back in 1990-1991. And I support them now because they kick ass and are the best band in rock music and have been since they started making records.
i just downloaded my favs off backspacer (fixer, amongst, speed, unthought, and force) and am loving it. i'll download the rest once i get an SD card, i only have 44 "blocks" left on my Wii, lol. I'm so glad PJ is allowing an musically talentless scrub like me download their tunes for Rockband- i can now actually do the stone two step with a fake guitar in my hand instead of an air one!!!
did anyone or does anyone know the answer to when that live PJ one is coming out?
