I love the new song! I'll add this to my Facebook page when I get home from work tonight.

Freakin' sweet - 61 days until the album drops . . .

I'm gunna fight to get it back again!

Added to my Facebook page ...

Good...needs to grow on me.

This song is really, really catchy. Gonna be killer live.

Yeah Yeah yeah Yeah!!!!!!

I really dig this song. Feels like Pearl Jam's take on a 1980's summer song (like an old INXS song or something). It's really cool.

Amazing how they just keep growing and getting better. I hope this tour brings them to AZ.

It says listen to the full track, but there's no way that's the full track cause' the ending gets faded and edited out? This maybe a catchy song, but I certainly hope the rest of the album has better songs then this and GOT SOME! I'm a loyal 20 year die-hard PJ fan, but this music is embarrassing. It's the same shit they have been writing since RIOT ACT. I'm SORRY, BUT THEY HAVEN'T RELEASED A GREAT ALBUM SINCE YIELD. Yes all the albums since have at least 5 good songs, but I'm sorry when you have 10-15 songs on an album, thats way too much filler and utter crap! Even lyrically when was the last time EDDIE wrote anything close to whats on YIELD? Ask yourself when was the last time EDDIE wrote a great song that would've made any of their first 5 albums? And I have never criticized this band once in my life.

vito, "listen to the full track" is a link to the front page where you can listen to the full track.

vito, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, But I have to disagree with you here. Riot Act and Avacado are both amazing records. Sure, Riot Act could have done without a couple of tracks, but all in all it has 10-11 incredible songs on it.

As for "The Fixer", it sounded good to me, but I've only heard it once so far. PJ songs take some time to digest sometimes. I've listened to "Got Some" a lot and I think it's great. Actually, I think it should have been the first single...

Where on the front page can you listen to the whole song?

Press "Play" on the big cassette player.

On this page or on the front page of which there is no casette player. And when I press play on this page it's certainly not the full song.

The song I heard had a intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, then another chorus and an outro. It sounded like a full song to me...

"Got Some" should have been the first single...I'm sure there is a valid reason...E.V. will not lead us astray. Pearl Jam is the best band on the planet.

Vito-
Please spare us all your shitbag comments. If you are in the ten club, please get the FUCK OUT so TRUE fans can get the goodies they so deserve. I feel that perhaps you need to go see a doctor and get your hearing checked, or better yet, quit wishing that PJ would put out the same music as they did 10 + years ago and start listening with an OPEN MIND. Music evolves man. I wonder if you ever even listened to I AM MINE or SEVERED HAND. WTF dude. ???
I hear Good Charlotte calling you....

good song, like the bridge a lot and like ever PJ song...it will be induced with love and fight live. Words are simple, but pretty cool. Listened to it only twice but its good.

The Fixer is different than I expected, not in a bad way, but I can understand people not gravitating toward it. It seems a little polished, and i'm sure the live version is just going to blow the album one away, as usual.

Overall, any day with new PJ is a good one.

I have to say I won't be joining the haters, I really like it, it is catchy but what's wrong with that?

I'll take it over Come Back my least liked track on the last album. Can't wait till August 17th MEN to see the guys my 1st time since 2000 Binaural tour Wembley Arena.

Can't wait till this baby drops, I guess I'll get the CD as my vinyl I've pre-ordered won't get to the UK for the release date at least it's better organised than Advoca's vinyl, that took ages to get pressed up.

I think the single "The Fixer" is a great rock tune.
Bands out there today wish they could right something as solid as PJ's new song.
I def. give credit to Pearl Jam for never reproducing the same product over and over again,
we have Nickelback and Creed for that!

Why can't I get it to play? What am I doing wrong?

"I def. give credit to Pearl Jam for never reproducing the same product over and over again,
we have Nickelback and Creed for that!"

What he said. One of the things that has made PJ so iconic is that they refuse to just re-hash the same thing, they hit highs and lows, but so does every band. Frankly, I like the sound of it. It doesn't sound like something I would have expected, but that's the beauty of it. We won't get one predictable album after another, we'll get original material from the heart, becaue they're not the same guys they were 18 years ago, they've changed, and matured, and so has their sound. They're not some mid level band churning out singles; they're music legends on scale with "The Who" and "Zep". They've been together for an incredibly long time for any band and I'm happy to see where the sound goes from here.

it is a great song with some very cool percussion and hand claps underneath throughout. thank you matt cameron

I do dig the song and find it very original, so I don't mean this as any kind of accusation; but does any one else get a kind of Paul Westerberg feel. All you die hard jammers like myself, think back to the "Singles" days, and try to remember "Waiting For Somebody". I'm sure most of us still have the soundtrack, so you can just listen to it again. But I really hear it in Eddie's vocalizations at the beginning and end of the song: "Ah-ah, ah-ah . . . ah-ah, ah-ah".

Reminds me of "All my life . . . waiting for somebody . . . Ah-ah-ah . . . oh yeah". It's just a little deja vu I'm going through, but it has a cool feeling, full circle--past, present, and a new album to come.

When can we buy and download this and Supersonic?

Keep pressing play!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me a break never reproducing the same product is a band like RADIOHEAD, this is basic rock n roll only very uninspiring. And whoever said I want them to make the same album as their first 5, no I just want them to make great album #6 if ever they still can? I am entitled to my opinion and as I said before this is probably the first time I have ever criticized this band in my life. If you think this is innovative and great rock n roll then thats your opinion, but don't call me names cause' I don't agree with you. Afterall I was the one that started a thread a few ago about alll the bitching, moaning and complaining that goes on in this fan club. Ansd lastly please don't compare PJ to THE WHO not now or ever, you make yourself look silly!

I have to disagree strongly with Vito. This new song makes me excited. It's got a fresh, upbeat sound that makes you want to dance. I'm looking forward to the rest of the record. If you are waiting for the guys to write Ten again, it's not gonna happen. That was a special record at that time. You may have a connection with some of their older stuff because of where you were in your life at that time. I have found several songs on each record since Ten that I couldn't imagine not having today. Most bands have that one record that is great from start to finish. The stars just aligned. Give a fair chance to each new song and you might find that they grow on you. Riot Act has LBC, Thumbing My Way, I Am Mine, Save You. All great songs. The self titled has Life Wasted, Come Back, Gone, Inside Job, Army Reserve, Big Wave. Also great songs. This isn't the type of band that is out there trying to write what everyone wants to hear.

This song will be a huge hit and a radio staple. I absolutely love this song and I'm looking forward to the new album.

Good day fellow PearlJammers,

On a scale of 1-10, I give this song a 7.5. The two songs thus far ("Got Some", and "The Fixer") have some similarities with the songs from their last album. On that album I thought "Unemployed" and "Army Reserve" were awesome. I think Riot Act is my least favorite album.
From these two songs, I can tell this album will be better than Riot Act and probably better than their last album.
Someone mentioned that their last album was titled "Avocado," but I thought it was self titled, "Pearl Jam."
My favorite song in recent years is "Nothing as it Seems."
My favorite album is .... That is a hard one.
I am hoping Pearl Jam will come to Louisiana. I have not seen them since their 2004 tour...
Please "Come Back!!!!"

Hey guys, don't bash Vito just because he's unhappy with the latest Pearl Jam albums. As a 20 year fan, he is definitely entitled to his opinion.

Personally, I never really get into a new Pearl Jam album until I've heard the songs performed live. I do think this new song sounds awesome, but I cannot wait to hear them rock it out in concert.

BTW, I feel the same about awesome bands like Wilco and Radiohead-- the albums just don't do them justice. You have to see them live to get the full effect.

It's pretty obviuos you guys don't read very well where did I ever say I want them to write TEN AGAIN? What I said was their first 5 albums all different, evolving, and brilliant is where it stopped, and I'm still waiting for a great album #6! If you think BINAURAL, RIOT ACT OR AVOCADO are brilliant albums then you people no nothing about music. If your going to attack me I'm going to start attacking back. All those songs you listed I AM MINE, LBC, SAVE YOU, ETC... are not great songs!!!!!!!! They are good songs and outside oj PJ'S little circle no one even listens to them. Does that mean anything I don't know, but if they were all great songs someone besides PJ fans would be listening to them. Read what's posted and don't try to guess or sound like you no me or how I think. I notice no one dared to attack me about the idiot that put PJ in the same sentence as THE WHO?????? Just think about the talent in THE WHO, the historical events they played at the musical genre's they affected, the uncountable innovations they created, and lastly ask EV if he thinks his band could carry THE WHO'S jock strap? And I stand again by my opinion that GOT SOME and THE FIXER are nothing memorable that moves me to say EV and the band are still evolving brilliantly! JS96732 Your not giving yourself enough credit WILCO and RADIOHEAD have both been making better albums then PJ for the last 12 years!

I also like both new songs.. I will respect anyones opinion but I'll also put mine out there. I think there are a lot of bands that when you listen to thier early work it sounds better.. Atleast for me.. Listen to some of the songs from Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.. It's a fantastic album.. In my opinion the albums to follow were also great albums. Do I like his latest album? Not as much as the old but I repsect the fact that he's in a totally different place now, everything has changed significantly. I would assume the case is the same for PJ. So much changes over a time frame such as this. I have to respect thier poetic license to create and take it at face value.. I know I'm not going to like every song they put out but thats ok. I will cherish the old, and embrace the new.. I'll go to the shows with the thousands of others to get lost in the music for as long as they will allow. I will feel the anticipation of the first note of the next song and the rush that it gives me when it's that hidden gem I've been longing to hear. I will except the change that comes with the still growing band that I enjoy. Why? Because I'm a fan.. To quote some very wise men.. "It's evolution, baby." Peace!!

I do agree with the fact that we shouldn't be comparing PJ with The Who, cause PJ would blow them out of the arena. And yes i know EdVed would probably even disagree with that. Keep your panties on Vito, i know that might stir up some feelings inside of you.
If i could, i would like to make a few comments regarding the back and forth on here. Yes, i think Vito has every right to say what he says about PJ, because that's his opinion and he felt like sharing it. I read these posts and see how miffy everyone is getting over the quality of this song and that song and i can't help but be disappointed with all the bickering. We're PJ fans people, so what agree to disagree. This isn't like we're talking politics here, its music, everyone has different tastes. And that's the great thing about Pearl Jam, that somebody like Vito can be so adament about his personal favorites, and somebody else can be so adament about completely different songs. Pearl Jam has something to offer for everyone. I'm a big PJ fan, obviously, and there's plenty of songs that i don't personally like, but to say that other people shouldn't like them or listen to them is silly in my opinion. Who cares about which songs are the best and which aren't, lets just be thankful that in this world where low-grade music prevails, that we still have a band like Pearl Jam to continue to stretch the boundaries a little bit, and to give us a little bit of integrity in music that is sorely needed. Rejoice in our differences.

Radiohead, meh.......listen dude, you are def. entitled to your own opinion.....but that is all you are entitled to. Binaural is a great album, it is so unique and some of the lyrics on that album are so thought provoking. Every song is different. The bass line in "God's Dice" is all over the place. "Of the Girl" is so different, love the guitar work, show me a song that sounds like that from any other band or PJ for that matter, pure originality. The whole point of Pearl Jam, particulary Stone Gossard, is that they almost never go back to something they have written before. They are one of the only few bands left from the real era when popular music was good. They aged with class, unlike so many other bands that were good in their prime but just became a parody of themselves.

I agree, I am not very fond of "The Fixer" but like many of the posts before said, you need to digest PJ, like a fine wine. Shake the glass, let the oxygen release the aroma and flavor, swish it around in your mouth. I do like "Got Some". You are right though Vito, the first two songs lyrical content is pretty bland. Give it time man.

p.s. I love Riot Act....and actually the first couple albums are more straight up Rock N Roll (catchy Riff, anthemic chorus, rippin solo). They wanted to expiriment with music, write what they wanted, go against the grain and still mean something with their music. They never let their talent become undermined by anything else. The music is what has always mattered most. Nothing will changed that, they are constantly evolving students of music. Also, The Who IS the best. Although PJ is my favorite.

Well you did a lot of criticizing this time around; when was the last time YOU wrote a song Vito...my guess is never? And did you listen to In to the Wild and other band member solo projects?? Clean out your ears.....this is 2009 dude. This band has released many good songs since Yield and they have evolved...Love Boat Captain? Parachutes? You must be deaf.

Vito,

You should kill yourself.

hahahha, nice markpricne77. But seriously, im a punk ass teenager and know that if you just so happen to click shit, shit happens. try clicking the words that CLEARLY say "LISTEN TO FULL TRACK". Because guess what!!!! You actually get to listen to the FULL TRACK of The Fixer. Jeez, some of you people crack me up.

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah!!! what an amazing tune, man

Oh and vito, a lot of people do listen to those track on Binaural, Riot Act, and Pearl Jam(avacado). You can't go around saying we don't know anything about music when we are all signed in an amazing band's website. You're a frikn tool. I'm sorry but i hope you have a really long painful death because you're annoying the shit out of us people that don't want to listen to you're BS. every member of Pearl Jam is THE SHIT. Pearl Jam will continue to do their thing and write amazing tunes as they have for as long as they have been around. If you don't like it go fuck yourself.

Pearl Jam Rules!!!! =D

Markprince77 YOU SHOULN'T EVEN BE ALLOWED TO BE IN THIS FAN CLUB WITH A RESPONSE LIKE THAT. CONSIDERING I HAVE A WIFE AND A SON AND YOU TELL ME I SHOULD KILL MYSELF BECAUSE I'M NOT IMPRESSED W/ PJ'S NEW SONG.

GOINHUNGRY94 DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE LIVES OUTSIDE OF LIVING FOR PJ AND LIVING ON THIS BOARD YOU HOPE I DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE PJ'S NEW SONGS AND KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE WHO IS THE BEST FUCKING LIVE BAND TO EVER GRACE A STAGE! AND IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT MUSIC OUTSIDE OF PJ YOU WOULDN'T EVEN DEBATE THAT WITH ME, LET ALONE TELL ME TO FUCK OFF AND DIE A SLOW DEATH.

AND LASTLY I'VE SEEN PJ OVER 20 TIMES ALL OVER THE WORLD, HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE DAY 1, HAVE CLOSE TO 100 RELEASES(COUNTING BOOTS), AND WILL BE SEEING THEM AT CHICAGO 1 IN A MONTH! AND THE FIRST TIME I CRITICIZE THE BAND YOU FUCKING JUVENILES THAT NO NOTHING OUTSIDE PJ TELL ME TO KILL MYSELF. WELL NOW I NO WHY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TELLING ME TO QUIT THIS FAN CLUB FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS! FOR MOST OF YOU THAT ACTUALLY RESPECT MY OPINION ENJOY THE NEW ALBUM AND SHOWS BECAUSE I DON'T SEE THEM LASTING AS LONG AS BANDS LIKE THE WHO? PEACE VITO.

hey fucko, i have yet to see a pearl jam show. so can you please wait til sometime after august 24th thank you very much. and relax dude, im just bein a punk ass teenager like i said earlier. i am what i am. Also you really shouldnt say DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE LIVES OUTSIDE OF LIVING FOR A PJ AND LIVING ON THIS BOARD... dude you replied back pretty quickly. Who doesnt love the who, id give my right nut to have seen them ALL play. I can't say they are the best live although i have seen many perfomances on TV and DVD, i've yet to see them live. Listen, if it makes you feel any better(i really am being serious right now, im not trying to be a dick if i come off one), i take everything i said back that hurt you. Sorry about the fucko too. i guess i could get rid of it right now very easily but like i said...I'm punk ass teenager, and i'm very lazy.

p.s. Vito, can't you hold off on that guitar up the ass thing, i wouldn't want you to waste a lovely intrument on a kid's ass. that wouldn't even look very good on your criminal record ;D [man forcefully inserted guitar up 16 year olds buttocks]

Great Sounding Song. Can't wait to hear this and other new songs live in Seattle this September.

Vito - we usually get to read your type of comments in music magazine reviews because most that review pj are still living in the early 90's. I bet you were like them, you listened to the song once, said this song sucks, so now I am going to be the one to piss off all the PJ fans.

Quit being like those Shitty Music Reviewers - Listen to the song a few times more, wait for the album to come out, and then after you have listened to that 3 times - then do your review.

Pearl Jam - I want to see you blow the roof off of Key Arena September 21st!!!!!!!

I suggest vito tries some decaf. Its music....remain calm.

Also CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!

Vito,
I don't wish death upon you (or anyone) for your opinions... I just think they would be more appreciated somewhere else...(like on Radiohead's fan site). Who ever heard of talking shit about a band on that bands web site, to their most devoted fans??? Holy crap! I don't usually tell people off like that but come on man, what did you fucking expect? Of course you were gonna get attacked. Geez-ass....

I am just happy knowing that the band I love the most in this world is still out there making some rockin shit. Long live PJ!

See you at the San Fran festival to all who are going! :)

I have never got into The Who
I love Pearl Jam though!
and I was born in 1970! I could have seen the Who in any one of their farewell tours!
All kidding aside the Who were monumental to music - I just don't listen to them.
Pearl Jam is better

Damn. You guys are hilarious. It's music. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. PJ is the shit. That's my opinion.

YOUR TELLING ME TO REMAIN CALM WHEN THERE HAS BEEN TO PEOPLE THAT WISHED I WOULD DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH BECAUSE I'M NOT IMPRESSED WITH 2 VERY AVERAGE SONGS I'VE HEARD OFF THE NEW ALBUM? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? READ ALL THE POSTS BEFORE YOU POST, AND FOR WHY I'M USING ALL CAPS IT SEEMS SOME ON THIS BOARD DON'T COMPREHEND SO WELL SO I THOUGHT I WOULD MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM

I FUCKING SAID I TOOK THAT SHIT I SAID BACK... I KNOW I SHOULDNT EXPECT YOU TO FUCKING SAY 'ITS OKAY', BUT QUIT YOUR FUCKING BITCHING! goddamn.
1st of all, yes, Pearl Jam is the shit aint no other like'em.
2nd, Vito, if you don't stop complaining i would like you to meet my dad because i can guarantee a good ol mexican ass whoopin can be arranged ;)
3rd, Pearl Jam is the shit
4th...do i have to say it?yes i do. PEARL JAM IS THE SHIT

Well that person didn't say anything most of us would but this is the internet and on occasion an Internet Nerd Fight shall break out.

I do not like this Fixer song at all but I am listening to it and I am going to give it a chance. Some of my favorite songs have come to be that way. Got Some I love. Will there be any songs on this album that will change the world...will we no longer have to pay taxes at some point? Probably not but we can hope! Until then if someone finds some music enjoyable or the lyrics can have meaning for them...hell...life is short! Enjoy it! I am not a music critic but I have my opinions as well. Just realize when you state your OPINION as FACT you will get...well....an Internet Nerd Fight.

hahahaha, i guess it is aint it. Im just bored man. i got nothing to do except just bullshit around. and i must say, i respect what you said.

Hey Vito, Why don't you go back to your Lady Ga Ga and leave the rest of the world alone. You're a shamefull 20 year Fan. The Songs Dope.

magnifico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If only Vito Kepy his thoughts to himself we wouldn't be in this predicament, although it is quite amusing. I say we throw Vito under the tour bus. Bring on Sept 20.

Wow Vito, seriously take it easy man, smoke a joint or something, you're taking this thing pretty seriously.

Switching topics here, can someone be motivated enough to start a petition that says Pearl Jam's next album will be recorded live. I know that's not the thing to do anymore, but fuck, lets be honest here, Pearl Jam sounds WAY better live, and this is coming from a fan of most of the album stuff.

Also, i agree with PJ as a fine wine, i don't know how many songs they've had that took me at least 20 listens to to finally appreciate it. It took me about five years to fully appreciate Lost Dogs. With that said, maybe lets hold out on the fighting for a while, until we can at least hear the whole album. Let's face it, the internet post brings out the tough guy in a pussy so it's hard to take this whole back and forth seriously. Maybe let's keep the convo's more civil, instead of trying to figure out who has the smallest dick.

Oh, and Mike McCready is God.

WHATS EVEN FUNNIER IS THAT THERE'S A 25 PAGE THREAD ABOUT HOW AVERAGE TO AWFUL THIS SONG IS IN THE FORUM SECTION. I GUESS I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THAT THIS IS QUITE EMBARRASSING FOR A BAND THAT HAS WRITTEN SOME OF THE BEST SONGS IN THE LAST 20 YEARS OF ROCK N ROLL?

Vito, get real, most of the posts are in defense of Pearl Jam against you. Embarrasing? If it was my band, i'd be proud that there are so many fans who have PJ's back. You're obviously trying to start an internet fight, and judging from what you say, maybe you're getting a little too mature in years to be doing that. Let's save the shit talking for the sorority girls.

And the way you talk about Radiohead makes me wonder if you only came on to this website to bring down one of the few bands who compete with Radiohead in terms of good alternatie music. And you're saying that one of the ten best bands of all time should be embarrassed for some meaningless single that they released two months before the album? Yeah i'd be real embarrassed to be a member of Pearl Jam by now. They've been around for two decades, by now, i think they've earned the right to do whatever the hell they want. They've proven themselves in my book that they always have the music's best interest at heart when they come up with stuff.

Amazing tune!

I can't stop hitting play! Like it or not, it's new PJ! How sweet is that?

Wait... we're still just on a message board, right? Love the new song! :)

Yahooooo! Play it fucking loud!

VITO - go away - Ten club lets fucking rock the new tune. Cheers Pearl Jam! See you in Seattle!

Two thumbs up! Doesn't sound like anything I've heard from PJ before. Can't wait for those Seattle shows!!

yinz guys are insane.......throw on your favorite record, crack a beer, maybe burn a nug, and fucking relax.........It's music, the whole point is to be free, right? A free artform. Calm yourselves or JUST START WRITING IN CAPS TO ENSURE THAT EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND NEEDS TO BE READ IMMEDIATELY AAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

ya jerk

Vito you are a much better critic than you are a fan. I'm not saying you have to like everything but to say utter crap is just plan silly. your probably one of those people who think Ten is there best album. I too have been listening to them for almost 20 years and will be attending my 20,21 22 and 23rd shows on this tour. They are much better as a band and Ed is much better as a writer than they or he ever have been. Can't be angry all the time kiddo....sometimes its ok to be happy and enjoy things....and let it reflect in the music you write and or listen to. my opinion......
1.VS.
2. Yield
3. Ten
4. Riot Act
5. S/T
6.No Code
7. Vitalogy
8. Binural.....great album but my least favorite....if I had to choose one. Seems like Matt wasn't truly involved yet but what do I know. like is said, opinion.

Anyone care to critique?

I gotta say, after 3 listens, this song is definitely growing on me. Cannot wait for the album. And cannot wait to see the show in the O2 in London in a few weeks! I traveled all the way from Ireland to Italy 2 years ago to see PJ, only to have the concert cancelled 4 hours before they came on stage because of some equipment collapsing because of a storm! I've had a serious gap thats needed filling since then, so I'm pretty sure a new album and a live show should help me with that! Great to have some new PJ music again!

Good on you Phattyjo..What the fuck did vito expect?? I've just been reading his comments and laughing..as well as getting really angry.. He bags the hell out of our favourite band on OUR fanclub site, and is shocked when people get pissed off. If vito didn't like the last 3 albums,(which in their own way were amazing and dear to me) what the fuck is he doing here?? Fuck off!! Go join radioheads fanclub...

Oh, LBC is a shit song hey vito..Tell that to the families of the 9 people who died at Roskilde..loser

I'm ready and waiting for an Aussie tour!!

(and the single rocks)

I seem to remember an interview with Eddie where he made a wry comment about not being able to write happy songs. I think this may be the closest Pearl Jam have got achieveing that :D It's definitely a lot lighter and bouncier than anything the've done before but I think it's great. Looking forward to what the rest of the album sounds like, although I hope there's still the 'deep and meaningful' stuff in there too.

oh i like this, can't wait for the new album
cant wait until 17th aug the boys return to manchester.
thery really should tour england more often.

Guys, everyone has the right to express their thoughts....if Vito doesn't like it....he is free to do that and express his opinion openly, i have been a fan for over 15 years and seen them +15 times in like 7 countries.....I must agree that I like their first 5 albums better as a whole....but there are amazing songs in Riot Act or the Avocato....so let's just be cool....and if you don't enjoy this song Vito, maybe you'll enjoy the rest of the album...and if not.....you have other reasons to be a PJ fan

can't wait to see them in London TWICE ;)

RNR

Javier

This must be good live song..
cant'n wait to see them in London, but only once!

Hey Vito,

Its called hyperbole. Maybe if you talk to your son he can explain it to you. I'm pretty sure they teach it in 6th grade English.

Vito
I agree with markprince77 on his opinion of what you should do to yourself...nothing like a good ole hyperbole to fluster an idiot...

the song is growing on me a touch (not necessarily because it's any good). makes me wonder how bob dylan can drop sensational albums at 67.

I LOVE the new song!!! Good job guys. Can't wait to hear it live in Toronto! And I can't wait to hear the full album. I think this album will be one that REAL fans can truly appreciate :D

Great Song! I really don't understand what all the fuss is about, but that's the beauty of PJ - unlike many other bands - is that they and their fan base are extremely intelligent and passionate people.

Pearl Jam have taken many risks over the years, but unlike bands like Radiohead and Wilco, (who i really admire and have seen both perform live numerous times) PJ have taken risks while sticking to their arena/live rock persona. I feel that radiohead and wilco could shit in a cd case and most critics and fans would call it "brilliant." Even Thom York - at one point - didn't want to release KidA because he didn't think it was good enough. (I happen to like KidA a lot)

Pearl Jam is the best live rock band i have ever seen (I am not old enough to have seen the Who). Radiohead's music doesn't translate live anything close to PJ. The energy and connection that PJ have with their fan base during live shows in unparalleled to any band the last 20 years.

Thats why i love PJ - unprecedented love for their fan base, their fight and passion for what they believe in and their energy in live performances.

Firstly, Vito - I understand you're pissed that everyone's having a go at you, but your hard man act did little to get the fight back on your side. You have an opinion and it's yours to give, good luck to you. I have no issue with what you originally said as I am comfortable in my own fan-skin, and don't need to prove my worth...I certainly don't wish you dead!

To those people (like me) that can't hear the whole song it's because you need to download the flash player. When you click on play the whole song, it takes you back to the homepage and there's a little note at the top that says you need to download the flash player. I can't do that as I'm at work so I've just listened to the little snippet over and over again and I really like it. The song's uplifting and reminds me of summer. I love the fact that you never know what you'll get with PJ.

Roll on 18th Aug (and praying for the 11th).

Great song, different and waaaay cool. Good ole PJ. Where can I hear the full song though.

People leave vito alone. he is only stating the facts. the song is a poor track. if it was released by a new band they would be dropped by their label. vito is correct, pj havent released a great lp since yield. just because its pearl jam 'the fixer' is being somewhat praised. but be honest its sub par. i feel they have lost their creative edge.i hope im wrong when backspacer is released. i have been a fan since i was 13 years old and im 30 now. have seen them all over the world but im so disappointed at 'the fixer'. 3 years and this is what we get. 'got some ' sounded terrible on conan. ima big enough a fan to be honest and so far im gravely concerned about the future of our beloved band. keep it in the pants folks!!

You could always go to youtube to listen to the whole song...i like it on the pj.com better tho just because it pj.com. yeaaa

Okay, all of you 20 year Pearl Jam "fans"... can you please stop calling the album "Avocado"? It's a self titled album!

uh Vito...please STFU! ..and all caps is for A-HOLES!!!!!

I don’t give a shit if Vito likes the new PJ song or not.
For me this whole debate is about Vito stating that PJ hasn’t produced a decent album since Yield…yet he continues to be a ten club member and therefore is taking ten club goodies away from REAL, LOYAL and WORTHY fans. Doesn’t that irritate the FUCK out of anybody else?
Yes he has the right to vomit whatever (idiotic) opinion he has but I don’t understand the logic… Why here? And then he cries that his vagina hurts when we come to retaliate… Holy fuck!
You must get off on this bullshit Vito and I am sorry I took the bait.
Get the fuck out of the ten club… Use the $20 membership fee and take your family to Chuck E. Cheese.

yes that irritates me....what irritates me even more is that vito changed his name to eboweddie to make it seem like he has supporters…loser

it sounds like the only album you like is Yield. Maybe it's time for you to find a new band and leave Pearl jam to the real fans.

Are some of you people serious that you think it's ok for people to tell you to kill yourself? I didn't change my name and I'm not going anywhere. WTF is wrong w/ you people, because some people don't like the song you think it's ok to wish them a slow painful death? I'm sure my son would appreciate that, how old are some of you people? You need to grow up, get off this site, and get a life! And if some of you just read the posts you would know that I never said LBC was a shitty song! What I said was that it was a good song, not a great song! Lastly everytime someone disagrees w/ any topic around here why do people attack w/ go listen to TEN or I bet NO CODE is your favorite album? Well actually it is, but the idiocy of these responses is second only to wishing people were dead over a piece of music?

for whomever could not play the entire song on the main page: i had the same problem, and instead of the "cassette player" there was a link to download the adobe flash player - go do that, install it and restart the browser - next time you should see the cassette player.

arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics: even if you win, you're still retarded.

So just listened to the song a few times thought I would put in my two cents. PJ has been my favorite band since the beginning, been a long time, crazy to think how long I've listened to them now. Anyway Ive seen a lot of comments about how this sounds like a new direction or how they evolve over albums. For the most part I agree with that, however maybe Im the only one but this sounds like it would fit perfectly on the Singles soundtrack, it has that Breath and State of Love and Trust feel to it. Sounds really old school to me, which is very cool. Anyway as far as the song goes, it has a rocking feel and the drums hit me right away as sounding really great. Actually the whole recording sounds really good, whoever did their mixing and mastering this time sounds like they knew what they were doing, sounds really good (Im a musician so I cant help but notice things like the recording itself heh). I like the song a lot, I guess my only complaint would be no guitar solo, perfect song for one and Mike is a pretty talented guy was kind of disappointed that one never came, other than that though, sounds like a great live song Im interested to hear more for sure

Vito,

You should severely wound yourself…is that better?

I agree with scalelokt that it needs a guitar solo. Mike's lead is such an integral part of PJ-- just as important as Ed's voice IMO. Then again, you can't have one in every song i guess.

Vito reminds me of how I feel about Metallica, several good albums to start and then mostly garbage afterward. So I can see where hes coming from and sympathize. Personally I dont feel the same way about PJ, the last two albums especially have felt like a different overall direction from the previous albums, so I guess some people feel like they have gotten better or at least stayed just as good, while other people feel they arent as good as they used to be. Its bound to happen anytime you change your sound, just like what happened with me and Metallica, lots of people like the last few albums, but not me heh. Bands typically grow and change over time unless they are really set on trying to make big time radio releases which PJ hasnt been interested in for a long long time now. They are experimental and try different things, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, just depends on the listeners tastes. I think overall though PJ is able to maintain good music that most fans will like from album to album.

fight to get it back again !!

I like it. Sounds like the Heartbreakers and the Cars.

Can't wait to get home and listen to it. I agree with a previous poster that the band consistently bears the heart of their songs best while on the stage, so I'm looking forward to the fall tour to illuminate the great stuff I'm already hearing.

Vito:

Pls get real buddy.

Read "inside job" lyrics. An if you really don't ahve anything nice to say keep you negative vibes to yourself.

Can't wait to buy this new album.

Love to all PJ fans.

Namaste

When can I put this sweet track on my ipod?

this poisonous shit starting to grow on me :) is backspacer gonna be the 9th PJ album I will admire...?

CAN WE PLEASE ALL GROW UP?!?!?

I AM WRITING IN CAPS TOO, SO THAT YOU MAY NOTICE MY POST.

Music is subjective, enough said. End of discussion!

I'm sure PJ would not appreciate you guys wasting your time arguing.
We are one big PJ family, and we are one of the most dedicated fan bases in music history. Remember that, and enjoy what you will...

i think vito's son should read this so he can laugh in his daddy's face because this is that ridiculous. some funny shit i think. if you don't like this new pearl jam tunes, that's your loss. If you don't love ALL of pearl jam's tunes you probably shouldn't be part of this fan club since a fanclub is usually a group of people that are true fans of whatever club they are in. You don't like a few songs, fine. But if you don't like a few albums, spend your money somewhere else.

I will say, I do have a handful of PJ songs that I don't "love" and I will usually skip if they pop up on my Zune:

1. Jeremy (I got nauseous after the 200th play on MTV)
2. Bushleager (It just feels petty, even though I probably dislike Bush as much as they do)
3. Rival (dont know why.. just doesnt do it for me)
4. Pilate

I really like Got Some and the Fixer, but waiting for the album to come out so I can really dive deep and immerse myself in it all- songs need to be listened to in different environments- at home, live in a gig, in your car, jogging, as a whole album etc. only then do I feel they seriously 'click'

But it's all very promising, they sound fresh yet still distinctly, life-affirmingly Pearl Jam.

I like it... only wish the album dropped prior to the Toronto show Aug 21st...

Love it! It has a different feel to it, but is great (as usual). Hope I hear it live in Chicago!

Well I am going to have to side with Vito on this one (so I guess I will die a slow death) but the songs are good and my be great live. Unfortunately they sound like left over tracks from Avacado (small fact it's a self titled album PEARL JAM) Am I going to by the new album?? HELL YES!!!!

Good, catchy tune. Another new side to PJ. Wouldn't call it great, but I definitely like it. Like "Got Some" a little better cause' its harder.
For those out there who compare everything to TEN. It is obviously a great album. A masterpiece. A classsic. But I'm glad their not that anymore, we've alerady heard and seen it. One thing about PJ is they do evolve and it keeps their sound fresh.
Can't wait for the whole release.

Vito - this docs prescribing some anger management classses. Remember, you are arguing with people you don't know and don't affect you.

I have to say I have enjoyed the ups and downs of this band since the start. This band has never been about every song being a great song. The songs have always been a platform for them to speak about their many many causes and Good on them for that. They have impacted the music industry in many other ways than #1 hits if you wan't that you have to produce cookie cutter music.

Pearl Jam has never dissapoited me LIVE (no matter where the seats have been) My other favorites have.

T.O.
Keep the music comming

I really do disagree with Vito. I am definitely not going to call him names because everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, while I by no means think Kixer is the greatest song they have ever performed, I do like it. Plus, you have to keep in mind these guys have been writing and playing music for 20 years. At some point, the music will suffer a little. But in my opinion, PJ has remained a very strong band (and in my opinion the most consistent for the last two decades, if ever). Look at bands like The Beatles. Great band, 7 year life span. The Who, great band, 13 year life span. And arguably, many considered their music to suffer greatly before Keith Moon's death in '78. But I would say that PJ has put out great music since Yield. I think Binaural was an unbelievable album. I can easily listen to that album start to finish. I love Riot Act, minus one or two songs, but LBC, Save You, Thumbing My Way, I Am Mine, and 1/2 Full are all great songs and concert staples now. I also love the Avocado album. The songs there are in my opinion very strong and angry, in many ways classic PJ. So maybe Vito should just let the rest of the album come out and give Fixer and few more listens before killing it.

The drum work in Greivance is great, I think you can tell the difference in the range of the band when Matt is on the kit. He works the toms like no one else in music........

I think everyone is getting a little too fired up about this song. Of course it's going to be commercial....it's the first release for crying out loud. They made a commercial for Target with this song. And it was played for the closing credits of the MLB All-Star game. It's supposed to reach out of the speakers and get young peoples attention. It's genious that they released this first. Something catchy that makes people want to go out and buy it. U2 does the same thing. I'm sure there will be plenty vintage music on the rest of the album. So far I think they are batting 1000. 2for2. I love this band, can't wait for Chicago on the 23rd and just pre ordered backspacer. I have a feeling this is going to be a good one. Maybe they'll get to play halftime of the Superbowl! Ha!

ditto

love the new track. Any news on when the track will be available for download? But in all seriousness, Vito, please kill yourself and your family.

yeah cool!!!,just added it to my Facebook profile, can't wait to have the new CD!!

What I love about PJ is there ability to capture a mood. There is no other band that is able to express a mood or opinion as vividly as PJ. What I love about the fixer is that it immediately radiates positivity and confidence. After listening to the song I feel empowered, a sense of strength and power to overcome hurdles. I can now tackle the day successfully..... and with a smile on my face. Thank you EV & PJ for capturing that mood.....and may there be many moods to come!!

This really is an incredible song. It's growing on me like crazy.

Vito, sometimes PJ songs have to grow on you. I like the song. It may not be their best. I liked Got Some live from Conan much better. I think all their songs are better live. And as far as only having 5 or so good songs on an album. What band do you know that has 10 amazing songs on every album they come out with? Most bands never have one. And lyrically i thought eddie wrote some good stuff for Into The Wild. But i guess we will all have to wait and see in september.

Great new sound...cant wait to hear the whole album!!! Lovin the newer / throwback artwork, reminds me of vitalogy :) Please come back to Pittsburgh!!!

i love it (of course I would), and I can't wait to hear it at the 02 gig!

It sounds like a song of The Cars... just a bit heavier but I like it, it's sunny! We wait for you again in MILAN!!!

Wow! I can hardly imagine everyone giving Vito such a rough time over his opinion. It's just that, his opinion. Maybe this forum is not the best place to express such rubbish, but he shouldn't kill himself. However, he should not interchange "no" and "know" when trying to defend his comments. Let's all just calm down, and peacefully wait for the new album and tour.

P.S. -- We need more fanclub tickets and the solo show in atlanta was great.

enough with this "opinion" bullsh*t...Vito has his opinions on PJ and their music...I have my opinions on vito's intelligence...vito expressed his opinions on this site and they irritated me...I expressed my opinions about vito on this site and they irritated him...seems like a fair situation to me...vito's an idiot

Is it me or is the artwork on the goods page promoting BackSpacer a condom? If so, hilarious. If not, I will tuck my creepy perversions away in my delusional mind.

the fixer is a good catchy song, but there will be better songs on the album. PJ never release the best song as the lead single.
world wide suicide - not the best song on avocado
i am mine - not the best song on riot act
nothing as it seems - not the best song on binaural
etc,etc,etc
they are just teasing us!
only 29 more sleeps until toronto!!!

...and, yes it does look like a condom!!!

The new songs rocks, can't wait to hear the new album!! Come to NYC on the tour!!!

i love all their albums and I can't wait to get my hands on Backspacer!

It is good for those of us whom have grown up with the band since day one. This is a good song. For MOST of us we have grown and expereinced different things throughout our lives and from Ten to the self titled Pearl Jam album we have led our lives dealt with many things, good or bad.. I don't know why some people are ripping this song apart. It has to be the younger kids wishing for another TEN album. I don't know. This song to me is about things not staying the same, growing, experiencing life. I love every PJ song, I haven't ripped one song apart yet in my 19 years of listening to the band. I love the direction PJ is going always have. I'm 33 have a family, not single and looking for angst anymore. Sorry for those who don't like it. This song truely is life. Your friend and mine inhidng

only my 2nd time listening to the Fixer and I think this song is great! I don't know what the big fuss is all about when it comes to this song. Sounds like classic Pearl Jam to me. I have been listing to these guys since the beginning and their music has got me through my teenage years my 20`s and now my early 30`s ! I remember watching Rikki Rachtman interview Pearl Jam on Headbangers Ball where they showed the video for Alive for the first time! Damn that was a long time ago :( The songs from Pearl Jam have gotten me through the good times and the bad times in my life. I could never thank them enough for this....I will always be a fan of their music and could never see myself talking shit about a band that has had such a huge influence in my life. Keep playing guys and I will always listen.

Can't stop playing this track, it's the' song of the summer 'no doubt. I'm highly anticipating this album like I have been for every other album for almost twenty years now. The Boy's never seem to dissapoint, and it's great to be along for the ride of their evolution, and while they play the background music of mine - of yours - of ours.

The song is pure meh. The quality of the music is devolving, imo. If the rest of the record is like this I would be pretty devastated. Hopefully stone has something on the level of parachutes on this one. I wouldn't give the fixer and got some a second listen if this wasn't PJ. But given that it's them I will listen again and bob my head and sing along and try to convince myself that this is not sub-par music from a great band.

Ed for President, Fantastic song and will be a great album. I have been a fan since Ten and they have not missed a beat since.

have any of you guys noticed that PJ has an album coming out? It is another masterpiece to add to all of our collections. They are the greatest rock band today, they focus on one thing and that is the music, their live shows are simple with no stupid pyro and dancing strippers and all that crap. They are what most of us all stand for "individuality" nothing can compare to these guys. they aren't forced down our throats like most acts these days, if you like them good and if not thats ok too. Stop arguing and enjoy what is soon to come.

P.S. I hope they kill it in Calgary Aug. 8th

I really like this song.I have to say, though, it reminds me a lot of unemployable. Anyone else get that?

It's going to be tough to beat Big whiskey and the Groogrux King's lyrics...I'm definitely looking forward to what Ed and the boys have to say, though.

What is wrong with some of you people? Let Vito have his opinion, he along with me and thousands and thousands of others are why PJ are still around and still making music. I'm a big fan of PJ, I think The Fixer is ok but c'mon, it's a poppy obviously cynical effort to get played on maintsream radio, bring the PJ brand back into the public conscience. Poeple will like the song, seek out the album and then hopefully there will be some heavier, deeper tracks on it. As for The Who comparisons, forget it, The Who will have a greater musical legacy than PJ, they made such a contribution to music and culture the like of which will not be seen again in the modern age.

I can recognize the touch of Matt in this song, good rythm ! I love the verses but not really the refrain. It's good to hear them again, I can't wait for the album !

Mě to to tady nehraj:-(

The more I listen to the song, the more I love it. The piano/keyboards twinkling along in the background is a great touch. When Ed sings the chorus "I wanna fight to get it back again" it feels f'n great!!!

By the way,Vito, I also love Yield...but think Riot Act is their best album to date...LBC is incredible, Thumbing my way, I coyuld go on and on...wake up!

1st listen, felt confused and uneasy about it, 10th listen, singin it walkin down the street.

:( its realy very bad. it doesnt like a pearl jam song. it seems like a song from quickie teen movies. and the mixes are too bad. it has mixed like the pop song from 80's. i dont wanna believe that the song belongs to PJ. its too unseemly for PJ. the song disappoints me deeply.
big upset

where is the ten soul or others from 90's. come yourself guys.
see you at 15.08 in berlin

It's amazing how someone gets torn to shreds and told to leave the Ten Club for expressing an opinion about a rock song. I mean, really, aren't there better things to get worked up about? A true fan can also be a bit nervous that PJ is headed down a musical path that he/she doesn't want them to go on and this should be a forum to express that. PJ's live shows are great. Their last few records have been okay.

Love It!!!

The Song I mean :)

Just wanted to say thanks to the rational people who also love PJ as I still do and understand there is more to life then a piece of music good or bad. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that's what this board is for. I also think it's sad that there isn't some kind of moderator monitoring this board because there is no place for people who wish others to be dead over music. Joke or no joke act your age and then maybe you can discuss the music properly. I'm done posting on this board, enjoy the shows and maybe I'll see some of you at CHICAGO 1.

Took me a few listens but I am Liking The Fixer!

"Peace and Love"

Roll on Manchester!
